They used to say "the camera never lies" but that is no longer true. Using digital technology, it is possible to create, re-create, remove or alter just about any part of a photograph. It might be something as simple as removing a blemish on a face or giving new life to an old black and white photograph, but using modern software anything is now possible. Take a look at some examples to the right.
In the first image, the original photograph was taken in poor weather. The sky was overcast and several people were carrying umbrellas. The retouched image shows a sunny blue sky, brighter light and the umbrellas have magically disappeared.
The second image was for Fast and Modified magazine. They wanted to see how a normal hatchback could be transformed into a street racing machine. The wheels were changed to larger alloys, the back doors were removed and the front doors were stretched and finally a front racing wing was added.
Click on the thumbnails to the right and then roll over the main image to see the effects of digital retouching.
